SERMAS STUDY CENTER
Security Research and Management School
SERMAS is a non-profit association born in the year 2000 with both purposes of
studying and monitoring the economic, technological, juridical, social, psychological,
and anthropological phenomenon inherent with the “dynamics of risk and security” in a
post-industrial age, and also of identifying and develop the most proper solutions at the
moment of application.
Central activities are therefore the research and the training related to the forecast,
prevention and to the management of nuisance and critical elements that emerge in the
productive, civil, institutional, and military scenarios.
SERMAS wants to represent an overall cultural initiative directed towards the promoting
and developing of knowledge on Risk and Security, offering a service of research and
formation for organizations and institutions as also meeting and aggregation points
between competences and interests expressed from the business world, the scientific
world and the administrative world.
Within the sphere of current initiatives, the actions for the creation of a partnership with
similar centers of study and universities bound to the constitution of a European pole of
research and training on the subjects are of extreme relevance.
SERMAS is also a founding member of ICSS (International Center for Security Studies)
among the IUSS (Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori (University Institute for
Superior Studies)) at the University of Pavia. The fundamental goals of the ICSS are the
training and the research in the Security sphere. Members of the scientific committee
are: Prof. Oreste Nicrosini (director), Avv. Antonio Serra (Responsible of security),
Prof. Paolo Giudici (Responsible search area).
